 Revolutionizing Education

 The Power of Artificial Intelligence

Introduction:

Artificial intelligence (AI) has been making waves in various industries, and the field of education is no exception. With its ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and make predictions, AI has been used to enhance service delivery in learning institutions. From personalized learning experiences to automated grading systems, AI is transforming the way students learn and teachers teach.

Personalized Learning:

One of the most significant applications of AI in education is personalized learning. By analyzing students' learning styles, preferences, and performance data, AI can create customized learning paths for each student. This allows students to learn at their own pace and in a way that suits their individual needs, leading to improved academic outcomes.

Automated Grading Systems:

AI has also been used to streamline the grading process for teachers. By using algorithms to assess students' work, AI can provide instant feedback on assignments and exams. This not only saves teachers time but also ensures more consistent and objective grading. Additionally, AI can identify areas where students are struggling and provide targeted interventions to help them improve.

Virtual Assistants:

Another exciting application of AI in education is the use of virtual assistants. These AI-powered tools can answer students' questions, provide study tips, and even offer personalized recommendations for further learning. Virtual assistants can also help teachers by automating administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments and organizing lesson plans.

Predictive Analytics:

AI has the power to predict students' future performance based on their past behavior and academic history. By analyzing data such as attendance records, test scores, and engagement levels, AI can identify students who may be at risk of falling behind and provide early interventions to support them. This proactive approach can help prevent students from failing and ensure they stay on track to succeed.

Adaptive Learning Platforms:

AI-powered adaptive learning platforms are revolutionizing the way students engage with course material. These platforms use algorithms to adjust the difficulty of content based on students' performance, ensuring they are always challenged but not overwhelmed. This personalized approach to learning can help students stay motivated and engaged, leading to better retention of information.

Gamification:

AI has also been used to incorporate gamification into educational experiences. By creating interactive games and simulations, AI can make learning more engaging and fun for students. Gamification can motivate students to actively participate in their learning and can help them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a more enjoyable way.

Language Translation:

AI-powered language translation tools have made it easier for students to access educational resources in different languages. These tools can translate textbooks, lectures, and other materials into multiple languages, making learning more accessible to students from diverse backgrounds. This can help bridge the language barrier and ensure all students have equal opportunities to succeed.

Emotional Intelligence:

AI has the potential to enhance emotional intelligence in education by analyzing students' emotions and providing personalized support. By using facial recognition technology and sentiment analysis, AI can detect students' emotional states and offer interventions to help them manage stress, anxiety, and other emotions that may impact their learning. This can create a more supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Conclusion:

Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing education in ways we never thought possible. From personalized learning experiences to automated grading systems, AI has the power to enhance service delivery in learning institutions and improve outcomes for students and teachers alike. By embracing AI technology, we can create a more engaging, inclusive, and effective educational experience for all.

AI is essential tool for teachers to aid in enhancing service delivery to his/her clients the learners. All teachers to adapt the dynamics in ICT  for betterment of their service execution. Learners on other side should also use this tool to enable them to understand concepts taught by their teachers but not well understood.

Technology Advancement

Technological Development in Artificial Intelligence

https: Frankatechictonline.blogspot.com is mandated to facilitate Access to genuine and legitimate information on Artificial intelligence Developments.

There have been many recent developments in artificial intelligence (AI) in the areas of:

* Robotic

AI in Robotics

*Computer vision

*machine learning

* natural language processing.

AI has greatly impacted positively on these areas, Healthcare, finance, education, and transportation are just a few of the sectors of the economy that these technologies are completely transforming. Some of the biggest models in the world right now are LLMs such as PaLM 540B and Megatron 530B. OpenAI has created a powerful new natural language processing tool called ChatGPT.

AI in Medicine

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot developed by OpenAI and released in November 2022. The name "ChatGPT" combines "Chat", referring to its chatbot functionality, and "GPT", which stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer, a type of large language model (LLM).

OpenAI logo

 ChatGPT is built upon OpenAI's foundational GPT models, specifically GPT-3.5 and GPT-4, and has been fine-tuned (an approach to transfer learning) for conversational applications using a combination of supervised and reinforcement learning techniques.

ChatGPT Training

 ChatGPT is a member of the generative pre-trained transformer (GPT) class of language models. It is a task-specific GPT that was fine-tuned to target conversational usage, and was originally built upon an improved version of OpenAI's GPT-3 model known as "GPT-3.5".

The fine-tuning process leveraged both supervised learning as well as reinforcement learning in a process called reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF). Both approaches use human trainers to improve the model's performance. In the case of supervised learning, the model was provided with conversations in which the trainers played both sides: the user and the AI assistant. In the reinforcement learning step, human trainers first ranked responses that the model had created in a previous conversation.These rankings were used to create "reward models" that were used to fine-tune the model further by using several iterations of Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO).

ChatGPT initially used a Microsoft Azure supercomputing infrastructure, powered by Nvidia GPUs, that Microsoft built specifically for OpenAI and that reportedly cost "hundreds of millions of dollars". Following the success of ChatGPT, Microsoft dramatically upgraded the OpenAI infrastructure in 2023.

OpenAI collects data from ChatGPT users to train and fine-tune the service further. Users can upvote or downvote responses they receive from ChatGPT and fill in a text field with additional feedback.

Features and Limitations

Although the core function of a chatbot is to mimic a human conversationalist, ChatGPT is versatile. It can write and debug computer programs, mimic the style of celebrity CEOs and write business pitches, compose music, teleplays, fairy tales and student essays, answer test questions (sometimes, depending on the test, at a level above the average human test-taker), write poetry and song lyrics,  translate and summarize text,emulate a Linux system; simulate entire chat rooms, play games like tic-tac-toe and simulate an ATM. ChatGPT's training data includes man pages, information about internet phenomena such as bulletin board systems, and multiple programming languages.

In comparison to its predecessor, InstructGPT, ChatGPT attempts to reduce harmful and deceitful responses. In one example, whereas InstructGPT accepts the premise of the prompt "Tell me about when Christopher Columbus came to the U.S. in 2015" as being truthful, ChatGPT acknowledges the counterfactual nature of the question and frames its answer as a hypothetical consideration of what might happen if Columbus came to the U.S. in 2015, using information about the voyages of Christopher Columbus and facts about the modern world – including modern perceptions of Columbus' actions.

Unlike most chatbots, ChatGPT remembers a limited number of previous prompts given to it in the same conversation. Journalists have speculated that this will allow ChatGPT to be used as a personalized therapist. To prevent offensive outputs from being presented to and produced from ChatGPT, queries are filtered through the OpenAI "Moderation endpoint" API (a separate GPT-based AI), and potentially racist or sexist prompts are dismissed.

In March 2023, OpenAI announced it would be adding support for plugins for ChatGPT. This includes both plugins made by OpenAI, such as web browsing and code interpretation, as well as external plugins from developers such as Expedia, OpenTable, Zapier, Shopify, Slack, and Wolfram.

Limitations

OpenAI acknowledges that ChatGPT "sometimes writes plausible-sounding but incorrect or nonsensical answers". This behavior is common to large language models and is called "hallucination".  The reward model of ChatGPT, designed around human oversight, can be over-optimized and thus hinder performance, in an example of an optimization pathology known as Goodhart's law.

ChatGPT has limited knowledge of events that occurred after September 2021.

In training ChatGPT, human reviewers preferred longer answers, regardless of actual comprehension or factual content. Training data also suffers from algorithmic bias, which may be revealed when ChatGPT responds to prompts including descriptors of people. In one instance, ChatGPT generated a rap indicating that women and scientists of color were inferior to white male scientists.

Your friend may force you indirect to indulge into a lifestyle you are not used to, Example As a youth, it's very easy for one to be introduced to different lifestyles like Taking alcohol, smoking weed, drugs and Substance Abuse like cocaine or taking Khat. If not, careful one may find himself or herself in drugs and Substance Abuse.

Drugs and Substance Abuse!

Drugs and Substance Abuse as the Destroyer of one's Bright Future

Drug Abuse: It is the chronic use of a drug for a reason other than for which it was intended. It is the bad use of a drug for example alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, heroin, mandrax and cocaine.

Drug misuse: This using a drug for a reason other than its clinical purpose. When a person starts taking drugs regularly, the drugs produce tolerance, addiction, withdrawals and psychological dependence

What Is Substance Abuse?

Substance abuse isn't something you should take lightly. It occurs when you use alcohol, prescription medicine, and other legal and illegal substances too much or in the wrong way. Substance abuse differs from addiction. Many people with substance abuse problems are able to quit or can change their unhealthy behavior. Addiction, on the other hand, is a disease. It means you can’t stop using even when your condition causes you harm.

Causes of Drug Abuse:

    Drug abuse has no single cause. It is important to examine and consider the different theories about possible causes of the problems. Peer influence is one of the causes of drug abuse among the youth in Kenya. Many youngsters are pulled into drugs by those they associate with. It is learned from those already involved in the practice. Bandura and Walter developed a „social learning theory‟ of personality which supports this fact. To them, this theory is based on the premise that behavior is learned, and personality can be explained in terms of cumulative effects of a series of learning experiences.

Drugs and substance Abuse in Nairobi slum areas.

Drugs and substance Abuse in Mukuru Slums, Embakasi South Constituency in Nairobi Kenya. Most of the slum dwellers are low-income earners whose main source of income is through small businesses or casual laborers from the industrial companies. These industrial companies majorly target unskilled workers who are desperate for earnings something for their livelihood, thus they are poorly paid. Due to this strangling livelihood these laborers find themselves marrying their poor slum dwellers and establishing families. Conceptually they bare children’s and due to their casual terms of employments, they really strangle to raise up their children’s.

These children are raised under deplorable conditions where some of them suffers malnutrition and often infected by any outbreak of diseases due to lack of balanced diet. Under these conditions as they grow up and their interaction with the environment, they find themselves indulging into the slum kid’s kind of life.

 Introduction to Html

HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language, which is the most widely used language on Web to develop web pages. HTML was created by Berners-Lee in late 1991 but "HTML 2.0" was the first standard HTML specification which was published in 1995. HTML 4.01 was a major version of HTML and it was published in late 1999. Though HTML 4.01 version is widely used but currently we are having HTML-5 version which is an extension to HTML 4.01, and this version was published in 2012.

Why to Learn HTML?

Originally, HTML was developed with the intent of defining the structure of documents like headings, paragraphs, lists, and so forth to facilitate the sharing of scientific information between researchers. Now, HTML is being widely used to format web pages with the help of different tags available in HTML language.

HTML is a MUST for students and working professionals to become a great Software Engineer specially when they are working in Web Development Domain. I will list down some of the key advantages of learning HTML:

  • Create Web site - You can create a website or customize an existing web template if you know HTML well.

  • Become a web designer - If you want to start a carrer as a professional web designer, HTML and CSS designing is a must skill.

  • Understand web - If you want to optimize your website, to boost its speed and performance, it is good to know HTML to yield best results.

  • Learn other languages - Once you understands the basic of HTML then other related technologies like javascript, php, or angular are become easier to understand.

Hello World using HTML.

Just to give you a little excitement about HTML, I'm going to give you a small conventional HTML Hello World program, You can try it using Demo link.

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
   <head>
      <title>This is document title</title>
   </head>
   <body>
      <h1>This is a heading</h1>
      <p>Hello World!</p>
   </body>
</html>

Applications of HTML

As mentioned before, HTML is one of the most widely used language over the web. I'm going to list few of them here:

  • Web pages development - HTML is used to create pages which are rendered over the web. Almost every page of web is having html tags in it to render its details in browser.

  • Internet Navigation - HTML provides tags which are used to navigate from one page to another and is heavily used in internet navigation.

  • Responsive UI - HTML pages now-a-days works well on all platform, mobile, tabs, desktop or laptops owing to responsive design strategy.

  • Offline support HTML pages once loaded can be made available offline on the machine without any need of internet.

  • Game development- HTML5 has native support for rich experience and is now useful in gaming developent arena as well.

Audience

This HTML tutorial is designed for the aspiring Web Designers and Developers with a need to understand the HTML in enough detail along with its simple overview, and practical examples. This tutorial will give you enough ingredients to start with HTML from where you can take yourself at higher level of expertise.

Prerequisites

Before proceeding with this tutorial you should have a basic working knowledge with Windows or Linux operating system, additionally you must be familiar with −

  • Experience with any text editor like notepad, notepad++, or Edit plus etc.
  • How to create directories and files on your computer.
  • How to navigate through different directories.
  • How to type content in a file and save them on a computer.
  • Understanding about images in different formats like JPEG, PNG format.

  • HTML - Overview

HTML stands for Hypertext Markup Language, and it is the most widely used language to write Web Pages.

Hypertext refers to the way in which Web pages (HTML documents) are linked together. Thus, the link available on a webpage is called Hypertext.

As its name suggests, HTML is a Markup Language which means you use HTML to simply "mark-up" a text document with tags that tell a Web browser how to structure it to display.

Originally, HTML was developed with the intent of defining the structure of documents like headings, paragraphs, lists, and so forth to facilitate the sharing of scientific information between researchers.

Now, HTML is being widely used to format web pages with the help of different tags available in HTML language.

Basic HTML Document

In its simplest form, following is an example of an HTML document −

<!DOCTYPE html>

<html>

   <head>

      <title>This is document title</title>

   </head>

   <body>

      <h1>This is a heading</h1>

      <p>Document content goes here.....</p>

   </body>

</html>

HTML Tags

As told earlier, HTML is a markup language and makes use of various tags to format the content.

These tags are enclosed within angle braces <Tag Name>. Except few tags, most of the tags have their corresponding closing tags. For example, <html> has its closing tag </html> and <body> tag has its closing tag </body> tag etc.

Above example of HTML document uses the following tags −

Tag & Description

1 <!DOCTYPE...>

This tag defines the document type and HTML version.

2 <html>

This tag encloses the complete HTML document and mainly comprises of document header which is represented by <head>...</head> and document body which is represented by <body>...</body> tags.

3 <head>

This tag represents the document's header which can keep other HTML tags like <title>, <link> etc.

4 <title>

The <title> tag is used inside the <head> tag to mention the document title.

5 <body>

This tag represents the document's body which keeps other HTML tags like <h1>, <div>, <p> etc.

6 <h1>

This tag represents the heading.

7 <p>

This tag represents a paragraph.

To learn HTML, you will need to study various tags and understand how they behave, while formatting a textual document. Learning HTML is simple as users have to learn the usage of different tags in order to format the text or images to make a beautiful webpage.

World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) recommends to use lowercase tags starting from HTML 4.

HTML Document Structure

A typical HTML document will have the following structure −

<html>

   <head>

      Document header related tags

   </head>

   <body>

      Document body related tags

   </body>

</html>

We will study all the header and body tags in subsequent chapters, but for now let's see what is document declaration tag.

The <!DOCTYPE> Declaration

The <!DOCTYPE> declaration tag is used by the web browser to understand the version of the HTML used in the document. Current version of HTML is 5 and it makes use of the following declaration −

<!DOCTYPE html>

There are many other declaration types which can be used in HTML document depending on what version of HTML is being used. We will see more details on this while discussing <!DOCTYPE...> tag along with other HTML tags

HTML - Basic Tags

Heading Tags

Any document starts with a heading. You can use different sizes for your headings. HTML also has six levels of headings, which use the elements <h1>, <h2>, <h3>, <h4>, <h5>, and <h6>. While displaying any heading, browser adds one line before and one line after that heading.

Example

<!DOCTYPE html>

<html>

   <head>

      <title>Heading Example</title>

   </head>

   <body>

      <h1>This is heading 1</h1>

      <h2>This is heading 2</h2>

      <h3>This is heading 3</h3>

      <h4>This is heading 4</h4>

      <h5>This is heading 5</h5>

      <h6>This is heading 6</h6>

   </body>

</html>

This will produce the following result −

Paragraph Tag

The <p> tag offers a way to structure your text into different paragraphs. Each paragraph of text should go in between an opening <p> and a closing </p> tag as shown below in the example −

Example

 Live Demo

<!DOCTYPE html>

<html>

   <head>

      <title>Paragraph Example</title>

   </head>

   <body>

      <p>Here is a first paragraph of text.</p>

      <p>Here is a second paragraph of text.</p>

      <p>Here is a third paragraph of text.</p>

   </body>

</html>

This will produce the following result −

Line Break Tag

Whenever you use the <br /> element, anything following it starts from the next line. This tag is an example of an empty element, where you do not need opening and closing tags, as there is nothing to go in between them.

The <br /> tag has a space between the characters br and the forward slash. If you omit this space, older browsers will have trouble rendering the line break, while if you miss the forward slash character and just use <br> it is not valid in XHTML.

Example

<!DOCTYPE html>

<html>

   <head>

      <title>Line Break  Example</title>

   </head>

   <body>

      <p>Hello<br />

         You delivered your assignment ontime.<br />

         Thanks<br />

         Mahnaz</p>

   </body>

</html>

This will produce the following result −

Centering Content

You can use <center> tag to put any content in the center of the page or any table cell.

Example

 Live Demo

<!DOCTYPE html>

<html>

   <head>

      <title>Centring Content Example</title>

   </head>

   <body>

      <p>This text is not in the center.</p>

      <center>

         <p>This text is in the center.</p>

      </center>

   </body>

</html>

This will produce following result −

Horizontal Lines

Horizontal lines are used to visually break-up sections of a document. The <hr> tag creates a line from the current position in the document to the right margin and breaks the line accordingly.

For example, you may want to give a line between two paragraphs as in the given example below −

Example

 Live Demo

<!DOCTYPE html>

<html>

   <head>

      <title>Horizontal Line Example</title>

   </head>

   <body>

      <p>This is paragraph one and should be on top</p>

      <hr />

      <p>This is paragraph two and should be at bottom</p>

   </body>

</html>

This will produce the following result −

Again <hr /> tag is an example of the empty element, where you do not need opening and closing tags, as there is nothing to go in between them.

The <hr /> element has a space between the characters hr and the forward slash. If you omit this space, older browsers will have trouble rendering the horizontal line, while if you miss the forward slash character and just use <hr> it is not valid in XHTML

Preserve Formatting

Sometimes, you want your text to follow the exact format of how it is written in the HTML document. In these cases, you can use the preformatted tag <pre>.

Any text between the opening <pre> tag and the closing </pre> tag will preserve the formatting of the source document.

Example

 Live Demo

<!DOCTYPE html>

<html>

   <head>

      <title>Preserve Formatting Example</title>

   </head>

   <body>

      <pre>

         function testFunction( strText ){

            alert (strText)

         }

      </pre>

   </body>

</html>

This will produce the following result −

Try using the same code without keeping it inside <pre>...</pre> tags

Nonbreaking Spaces

Suppose you want to use the phrase "12 Angry Men." Here, you would not want a browser to split the "12, Angry" and "Men" across two lines −

An example of this technique appears in the movie "12 Angry Men."

In cases, where you do not want the client browser to break text, you should use a nonbreaking space entity &nbsp; instead of a normal space. For example, when coding the "12 Angry Men" in a paragraph, you should use something similar to the following code −

Example

 Live Demo

<!DOCTYPE html>

<html>

   <head>

      <title>Nonbreaking Spaces Example</title>

   </head>

   <body>

      <p>An example of this technique appears in the movie "12&nbsp;Angry&nbsp;Men."</p>

   </body>

</Html>
